Our Mission

Our vision for the Borough of Castle Point is:

‘A community where everyone can prosper, be safe and live in a high quality environment’

To achieve this we have identified 9 ambitions for the Borough:

Learning for all – opportunities for everyone to learn, making Castle Point a prosperous place with a well skilled workforce

Making our environment greener and cleaner – making Castle Point a pleasant, clean and green place to live

Regenerating our local economy and places – achieving a sustainable, prosperous economy in the Borough where people can afford to live

Having fun – making Castle Point a top quality place for recreation, relaxation and socialising

Becoming healthier – ensuring everyone has access to the health and care services they need and that all services work towards a healthier community

Feeling safer – achieving a community where people feel safe to lead their lives

Getting around – improving people’s ability to get around

Developing stronger communities – strengthening local communities and ensuring inequalities in quality of life are reduced

Meeting housing needs – providing better access to housing in the Borough

In order to inform the strategy and identify these 9 ambitions we carried out widespread consultation. We:

Advertised details about the draft strategy, consultation and questionnaire:

• On the Council’s website
• In the local press
• With posters around the Borough and in community buildings and places
• By placing an article in the Borough News (which goes to every household in the Borough)
• By leafleting out-commuters at Benfleet Station

Presented the strategy to a number of groups including:

• Students at SEEVIC College
• Senior Citizen’s Future Needs Group
• Voluntary Sector & members of the public

Continue to hold LSP events to gather information from partners and residents across the Borough and to discuss existing actions.

Below is an indication of the percentage of residents surveyed who agreed that the 9 ambitions were important to improve the Borough:
